It necessitates that before making any judgements, we look for clarification, gather information, and weigh opposing viewpoints.
We may improve our capacity to reason critically and solve difficult challenges in both our personal and professional lives by honing these talents. In the modern world, when there is an abundance of information and false information at our fingertips, this is a useful ability to have.
We need to practice being open-minded, inquiring, and sceptical in order to develop critical thinking. We should question our own presumptions and views while also being open to other people's points of view. To widen our viewpoints, we should actively connect with the world around us, seek out a variety of information sources, and learn more about it. When we keep honing our critical thinking abilities, we are better able to traverse the complexity of life and arrive at wise conclusions that are consistent with our beliefs and objectives.
3) COGNITIVE THINKING
Although both critical thinking and cognitive thinking are crucial cognitive abilities that aid in making sense of the world around us, they are not interchangeable. The capacity to critically analyse and assess data, claims, and concepts in order to reach a conclusion or decision is known as critical thinking. It entails posing queries, recognising presumptions, looking at the data, and evaluating arguments. Contrarily, cognitive thinking refers to the capacity to comprehend, learn, and apply information by using mental processes including perception, attention, memory, and problem-solving.
While reasoning and analysis are two aspects of both critical and cognitive thinking that are comparable, their goals and conclusions are different. Although cognitive thinking is focused on using mental processes to solve problems and learn new information, critical thinking is focused on analysing facts and arguments to make defensible conclusions or judgements.
Practice problem-solving and decision-making in fictitious situations is necessary to build cognitive thinking abilities. For this, an issue must be identified, information must be gathered, choices must be considered, and a course of action must be decided. Playing games that demand strategy and planning as well as puzzles and brainteasers may all help you develop your cognitive thinking skills.
